Members have asked several general questions. We will try to answer some of them;
Q: What is the purpose of the Fund?
A: The purpose is to provide, in the name of CAW Local 88, a source of bursary assistance for students entering first year of a post secondary education. The initial objective of CAW Local 88 is to see the account grow in value until the income from it can support two or more such bursaries. This is an entrance bursary and is not renewable for a student entering his/her second year of studies.
Q: Who owns the Fund?
A: The Fund is the property of CAW Local 88.
Q: Who administers the Fund?
A: CAW Local 88 does. The money is pooled with all the other funds administered by CAW Local 88.
Q: How does the Fund grow?
A: The Fund will have an initial donation from CAW Local 88 General Revenue of $2000.00. CAW Local 88 will also donate from its own funds in memory of deceased members ten cents per active member per month. The only other real source of such growth will be the voluntary contributions that Members of CAW Local 88 make into the Fund; and the contributions we can persuade others to make into the Fund.
Q: Who will decide when the Fund is big enough to pay a bursary?
A: The CAW Local 88 Memorial Bursary Committee will. This Committee will consist of three (3) Members of CAW Local 88 and be appointed by the Executive of CAW Local 88 and approved by the Membership of CAW Local 88. The initial objective of CAW Local 88 is to award the first bursaries (2) for the school year 2003(Fall) to 2004(Spring).

A: The CAW Local 88 Memorial Bursary Committee will. Every month, the Financial Secretary will report the Funds status at the regularly scheduled General Membership Meeting. The criteria and selection of the recipient will be established by the CAW Local 88 Memorial Bursary Committee. The decision of the CAW Local 88 Memorial Bursary Committee is final.
